High School Freshmen Go the Distance for NICU Families
This past weekend, the Little Giraffe Foundation proudly cheered on our running team at the Christmas in July Half Marathon, where they combined endurance, teamwork, and generosity to make a real difference for NICU families.
High school freshman Nathan Santoro was inspired to give back this summer and did it the best way he knew how, by running. He captained the team and completed his first-ever half marathon with an incredible 1:24:30 finish, earning 5th place overall. Fellow runner Nathan Favia also had a standout performance, crossing the line in 1:22:39 for 4th place overall. Together, the two Nathans inspired the entire team and community, raising thousands to support babies and families in the NICU.
They were joined by Mike Santoro, who proudly achieved his goal with a sub–2-hour finish, and 8th grader Evan Santoro, who ran the 5K, finishing 9th overall and 3rd in his age group. Each runner brought their own milestone to the day, but all shared the same purpose: raising funds and awareness for the Little Giraffe Foundation.
Thanks to the dedication of our runners and the generosity of 58 donors, the team raised an amazing $3,530. These funds will help the Little Giraffe Foundation continue to provide comfort and resources to NICU families while also funding vital neonatal research.
We are so proud of Nathan, his teammates, and everyone who supported this effort. Their commitment shows that whether it’s mile by mile or donor by donor, together we can make a lasting impact!
